Lunch Atop a Skyscraper: Rockefeller Center, September 20, 1932
An unidentified photographer took "Lunch atop a Skyscraper" at Rockefeller Center in Manhattan on September 20, 1932. The staged publicity photograph shows 11 ironworkers eating, smoking and talking while seated on a steel girder about 800 feet above the city during construction of the RCA Building at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, now known as the Comcast Building. It was published in a Sunday newspaper photo supplement on October 2, 1932. Charles C. Ebbets was credited with the photograph for years, but the attribution is not conclusive. Ebbets, Thomas Kelley and William "Lefty" Leftwich were among the photographers working on the beam that day, and no surviving record establishes which of them made the negative. Only two of the workers have been firmly identified: Joseph Eckner, third from left, and Joe Curtis, third from right. Companion photographs from the same session show workers posing and pretending to sleep on the beam.

They work at that height everyday and after awhile you stop fearing just being there. And your only scared of things are going bad but even then most of the time it isn't that bad because you what needs to happen.
