James Dean Death Pictures From The Crash in 1955
James Dean, the iconic American actor and cultural symbol of teenage disillusionment and social estrangement, as epitomized in his most celebrated film, "Rebel Without a Cause," tragically died in a car accident on September 30, 1955. At just 24 years old, Dean's untimely death near Cholame, California, transformed him into an enduring legend of Hollywood and youth culture. Dean was driving his Porsche 550 Spyder to a motorsport event in Salinas, California, when the accident occurred. While traveling on Route 466 (now State Route 46), Dean collided nearly head-on with a Ford Tudor sedan. Dean, who had gained a passion for racing and was a promising driver, suffered fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital. This isn't really gory, but I wanted to post it as I'm a fan of James Dean. You can actually see his dead body in one of the pictures. I highlighted it with a circle.

I've always wondered if that pic of his face is real or not. Some say it's photoshopped

Re: James Dean Death Pictures From The Crash in 1955
It's a mystery. From all I've read, Dean's face was obliterated in the crash so then it couldn't be him, could it. His mechanic was in the car with him and was taken to the hospital with severe injuries and survived. Dean and his mech looked quite a bit alike, so maybe it's him. The big guy with the white shirt and the guy in back are definitely looking at him, and they are the ones wheeling the stretcher to the ambulance. I still think it's Dean, and the reports of his facial wounds were exaggerated. |
