That's a great point!! i have no idea...but it looks like if you go down there, you'd want to make it out of there by high tide!

C'mon lets leave something untouched the way its been for MILLIONS of years before we came (a polluted) although I'd love to see some (non-mainstream) centric artist do a beautiful video there at night. This is nothing short of amazing.

Vallarta Adventures does a trip out to it, i guess also others do.
The Mariettas Islands are a National Park and there is no camping allowed. Some years ago campers set the place on fire. It is a bird sanctuary and all kinds of birds can be observed, including the Blue Footed Booby. Water Taxi's do not go out there, you need to make a reservation with a company like Vallarta Adventures, it is an all day trip to go out snorkel have lunch then return. Not sure of the cost.
