Re: Fish Cannot Feel Pain Say Scientists
They lack the neocortex to process pain and remember the effects of it long-term the way mammals do, but they certainly do feel pain at the time that it is being inflicted. If they did not, there would be no response, reflex or otherwise. Given that fish are capable of learning, it is myopic to suggest they cannot experience pain in any form.

Re: Fish Cannot Feel Pain Say Scientists
bullshit, they do, the did a test of putting goldfish in a light room and in a dark room, monitored oxygen levels of both and found the fish in the dark used more oxygen indicating stress.

Re: Fish Cannot Feel Pain Say Scientists
Obviously these people never had cichlids (Oscars, Jack Dempseys,North American/African cichlids.. etc),Pirahna or carnivorous saltwater fish as pets.. When they bite a coinhabitant of their environment and it leaves a mark..the one that got bitten sure as hell acts as if it felt it. |

Re: Fish Cannot Feel Pain Say Scientists
Interesting - I've always wondered about this subject but do think fish feel pain at the time. I saw the reaction of salmon being eaten alive by bears on the riverbank on TV, made me ill |
