Pictures of the Crash of Concorde Flight 4590 in Gonesse, France
Concorde Flight 4590 was a tragic air disaster that occurred on July 25, 2000. Operated by Air France, the Concorde was set to fly from Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City. Shortly after takeoff, the plane crashed in Gonesse, France. The accident was caused by a metallic strip left on the runway by a previous flight, which punctured one of Concorde's tires. Pieces of the tire struck the fuel tanks, causing a fire and leading to engine failure. All 109 people on board and 4 on the ground were killed. This crash marked a significant moment in aviation history, leading to modifications in Concorde aircraft and ultimately contributing to the end of Concorde's service in 2003. · · · · · |
