Sergei Prokudin-Gorsky's Color Photographs of the Russian Empire, 1909-1912
Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorsky photographed the Russian Empire in color during a survey conducted from 1909 to 1915. He made three successive black-and-white exposures through red, green and blue filters. When the images were combined, they produced near-true color views of people, architecture, industry and landscapes before World War I and the Russian Revolution. This selection dates from 1909 to 1912 and ranges across the Caucasus, Central Asia, the Urals and northern and western Russia. It includes an Armenian woman near Artvin, the Emir of Bukhara, the Khan of Khiva, Jewish children in Samarkand, floodgate keeper Karlinskii, a bridge over the Kama River and Prokudin-Gorsky's self-portrait. The Library of Congress bought 1,902 of his triple-frame glass negatives from his heirs in 1948. The color views were later reconstructed digitally from those plates. Everybody is so down on communism, its inferior to free market society; however communism would help a lot of third world countries. People have to realize the concept of "gained wealth" is only about three-hundred years old. Communism destroys the noble class and puts everyone on an even plane, its a healthy part of economic evolution [for countries willing to evolve that is].

Totally depends on the flavour of communism you're talking about, but sure as fuck the Stalin variety resulted in little but death and misery. Does seem to me that life in Cuba is a whole lot better than in a lot of Latin American countries though.

Yeah the US killed trade with Cuba so they're stuck. It was once a beautiful wealthy place with casinos and and hotels. The hotels are apartment buildings now for the most part. Why the fuck doesn't the US just take it over and make it another state. If Castro was the US he would have???
