Re: Pictures From The Beverly Hills Supper Club Fire
This was most likely a mob hit. The mob had been threatening the owner to sell, for years, but he always refused. Supposedly, there were "maintenance workers" in one of the rooms, working on the a/c units the day/evening of the fire. This was reported to the Kentucky State Police, but they pretty much refused to investigate. Supposedly, those people were witnessed by a significant number of individuals. I think reports were there were either 2300, or 3200, people in the building at the time of the fire. WAY overcrowded, but the local authorities had no way to enforce codes at the time. The governor ordered the site to be bulldozed the following Monday. That was before the site had even cooled. So, there was a lot of speculation that both the KSP AND the governor were paid off. Independent investigators (because the KSP investigation was a farce) actually found tampered wiring and "timers" in the basement. It's a shame no formal charges were ever brought in this, but the mafia was actually very powerful, in northern Kentucky, at this time. (There's a 1hr video on YouTube, of a lecture one of the independent investigators gave. GREAT stuff. Check it out!) |

Re: Pictures From The Beverly Hills Supper Club Fire
I live very close to this location. And it's eerie. It's just a hill now with a small sign. Knowing what happened there and then seeing fact that it's almost like nothing ever happened is so weird

Re: Pictures From The Beverly Hills Supper Club Fire
The pictures of the bodies lined up are at the armory. I was 10 or so and used to play basketball and pool and bowling there everyday. It cost us a quarter to play but after the fire we were not allowed in there for at least 3 months. It it was horrible, that's all I can say. I was a mere child and knew this was a tragedy of huge proportions. They do suspect it was a mafia job because of the secret gambling and I knew one of those suspected mafia men. All I'm going to say about him is that he took pity on 3 ragamuffin, hungry, abused by the baby sitter kids and he fed us, he was kind to us and he gave us candy on occasion and always tried to nurture us in his own way. So to me and my brothers this man was just wonderful no matter what his criminal leanings may have been. It is the 41st anniversary of the fire but I still think about is and him just about everyday. |

Re: Pictures From The Beverly Hills Supper Club Fire
There wasn't just a wedding reception going on, the singer John Davidson was scheduled to perform. The fire broke out before he went onstage and he helped others escape before he got to safety. I think his musical director died, however. He did come back afterward and perform at a benefit to help the victims. I was very young, and Beverly Hills Supper Club was a huge place to us, in Louisville.

Re: Pictures From The Beverly Hills Supper Club Fire
the wedding reception had ended just shortly before the actual fire essentially "blew" The guest at the reception felt heat, but no one saw evidence of fire. When they left, it erupted. That area is vacant now - just grass and bushes. Sometimes people go up there to see what they can find, and that in itself is an interestly ghostly story - chair's menus, shoes etc, have been found.

Re: Pictures From The Beverly Hills Supper Club Fire
I know it's a old post and something about keeping the comments down. But I have to comment here. This site is very close to Cincinnati where I grew up. My grandparents enjoyed spending time at beverly hills. It was a really classy place we still have pictures of my grandparents and all their friends partying there. Allegedly, the Law about public doors swinging outward had been put in place due to this fire. People just kept packing up against the doors and crushing each other before anyone could get the doors open. People was stampeded and trampled to death. Its definitely a pretty wild story to look into. Like something straight out of one of the movies. |
