Hospitalized at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, Coleman was placed on life support. Two days later, following discussions and decisions in which Price was involved, life support was withdrawn, and Coleman passed away. The decision to remove life support, made by Price, sparked controversy and public scrutiny, especially considering their divorced status.

Coleman's death was officially ruled an accident, with no evidence of foul play. However, the circumstances surrounding his injury and the decision to end life support led to media and public speculation about the nature of his relationship with Price, both during and after their marriage.
