Crime Scene Pictures From The Scarlett Keeling Murder
The murder of Scarlett Keeling, a British teenager, in Goa, India in 2008 raised questions about tourist safety in the popular coastal state. Scarlett Keeling, 15, was on a family holiday in Goa when she was found dead on Anjuna Beach under mysterious circumstances. The initial police report suggested accidental drowning, but subsequent examinations revealed evidence of sexual assault and drug intoxication, leading to suspicions of foul play. The case took a complex turn as two local men, Samson D'Souza and Placido Carvalho, were arrested and charged with causing Keeling's death. They faced allegations of drugging, sexually abusing, and leaving her to die on the beach. The trial, which spanned several years, was marked by delays and controversy, including allegations of police incompetence and the mishandling of evidence. In 2016, a Goa Children's Court acquitted both D'Souza and Carvalho, citing insufficient evidence. This verdict was met with outrage and disappointment by Keeling's family and supporters, who had long argued that the investigation was flawed. The family's pursuit of justice was relentless, and in 2019, the Bombay High Court overturned the acquittal of Samson D'Souza, sentencing him to ten years in prison. Absolutely fascinating stuff. Thanks for posting! Do you have access to the records from the first autopsy, as well? It would be interesting to juxtapose the two and make comparisons in the findings.  |
