One of the most common search strings on my site is "Lesley Ann Downey audiotape." It's shocking at times how much this one little girl still remains in the public imagination.

Ian Brady is a ridiculous piece of filth. I can't help but wonder how it was concluded he has an IQ of 180 because all his writings are hilariously inappropriate interpretations of Nietzsche and prose so purple it's practically a bruise. Nothing I've read or seen of him indicates he's much more than a reasonably clever psychopath.

But then again, there seems to be a minor movement to rehabilitate his image that I can see some easily duped psychologist proclaim him to have such a high IQ. Colin Wilson fawned all over him - I bet poor Colin thinks Brady is a genius.

I've never been able to decide whether Ian Brady became genuinely mentally ill in prison or if he faked it until it became real. All I know is that after I read about the way he screwed with Keith's mother after he was sentenced, like a bored cat with a mouse, makes me wish I could punch him in the eye.

I had the misfortune of having a disgusting (happened to be muslim and ex con) taxi driver in Middlesbrough last year, he took great delight and had seemingly respect for the time he was in the same prison as Ian Brady, to quote him "hes a fucking god man inside, bare respect to him man, he owns woman hes a god to people in prison man"

Call me thick and naive but why was she calling them mum and dad? I'm pretty clued up on the moors murders and Ian Brady (being a forensic psychology student) but I don't recall hearing or reading that before.

I'm pretty sure Myra and Ian told Lesley to call them both that. I'm guessing it made them feel like they had a sense of control and authority over Lesley if she referred to them as mum and dad. Parents are supposed to love their children - not torture them. I think this is what both Myra and Ian enjoyed about that thought.

I saw the Lesley Ann Downey transcript of these two creeps last year. I was sickened by the way they raped and abused her though it wasn't the worst thing I saw in written or audio form by a sick serial killer or child murderer (that would be Westley Allan Dodd's diary during his killing spree). I'm glad we only have access to the written word form of these monsters' exploits. I don't think I could ever through an actual audio recording of their sick activities, like the Bittaker & Norris tapes. I'm grateful authorities never release these kinds of tapes.
