Re: Vietnam War Trophy Photos
Oh these pics are HOT! All my uncles fought in Vietnam. They have some interesting tales. My Uncle Mike, who is also my godfather, shot himself in the head a few years after he got back. There are alot of stories that get told when my remaining uncles and family members get together as to exactly why. But he definitely left a note and it definitely had to do with things that happened in Vietnam. Him being my godfather and having no children I received his dog tag and medals and many other mementos from his time in Vietnam, but apparently according to my much older cousins, there are things he had from Vietnam that were left with my other Uncle Zeek, because my father objected. Including the service pistol he shot himself with and SUPPOSEDLY a forbidden war trophy! Some family members say its an ear thats dried out and looks like a piece of beef jerky, others say its a few teeth in a chew can. My Aunt has in a moment of drunkenness let it slip however that it is indeed a collection of "horrible pictures". I have been harassing her for them ever since to the point where I have been told to stop out of respect from other family members. Vietnam was gnarly, but it has a special place in my mind. These photos look like what I have imagined the legendary trophy pics must look like. Thanks Chris. If I ever get my hand on the photos (or beef jerky ear) I will share here first! |

Re: Vietnam War Trophy Photos
I came back from the Nam with a lot of "trophy" pics too - but none of them were men! :) I was at Nha Trang, Phan Thiet and Tan Son Nhut. The things I saw over there haunt me every day. Even the good things never leave. It's hard to explain. I turned 21 in Nam and it's such a different world it just stays in your memory forever. Some of it was wonderful, but some of it was horrific. The worst part of that war, was how we were treated by our own people when we got back. I saw American and Vietnamese boys splattered all over that place, yet it was Americans that spit on us and called us war mongers. The aggravation, was fighting a war that we weren't allowed to win. I hope Obama and all future US presidents remember the 57,000 dead that died with their hands tied. Iraq and Afghanistan will not be another Viet Nam, and we are not the Russians that gave up and ran. Our colors don't run, and we WILL stay until the job is DONE. |
