Great find and post. The last picture with the super imposed ghostly figures showing is just wonderful.
Those cast iron ornate legged morgue tables are awesome. Wish I could find one of those.

Re: Los Angeles Coroner's Department Morgue, 1932

Those photos are from the old basement morgue in the Los Angeles Hall of Justice, 211 West Temple St., Los Angeles. They are currently renovating and restoring the building. That's the same basement morgue that was used for many of the most famous murders and deaths in Los Angeles County until around the early seventies when a new coroner's building was opened. This was the same building where all the high profile criminal cases were heard (ie: Charley Manson, the Manson Family, Sirhan Sirhan, and many many others). The top stories held the Hall of Justice Jail were many of the high profile suspects were housed prior to trial the bottom stories were the Sheriff's offices, the middle was the court house and DA's offices. It's a great old building and it's nice they decided to restore it and keep some the the more historical rooms.

Re: Los Angeles Coroner's Department Morgue, 1932

i wish buildings still looked like that. My dad had an old office built in the 1800's once, and it had such high ceilings and the old tables were so nice. I remember running around on the old tile floors as a kid. offices now are so cheaply made.
