From 1959 to 1965, a copycat killer of Jack The Ripper, known as Jack the Stripper murdered six, possibly eight, women. Never caught, he killed women around London, dumping some of the bodies in the River Thames.
His victims were all found naked or semi-clothed and with teeth missing.
Detective Superintendent Bill Baldock of 'T' Division CID (with hands in pockets, left) is pictured at the murder scene (screened by canvas) where the naked body of a dark-skinned woman aged between 25 and 30 was found in an alley off Swyncombe Avenue, Brentford, Middlesex, early one morning. The dead woman - who is understood to have been assaulted and strangled - was found behind the garden of a terraced house.
