Re: Human Bodies Being Sold At Market For Meat
Exactly! Although definitely possible, I'm not sure this is a photo of "humans for sale". There were plenty of dead bodies around due to the famines and there wouldn't be much point in giving away food during a famine when money's worthless & food is the only currency worth having. Unless they're trying to barter these lesser body parts for other food or drink. ******CORRECTION: CANNIBALISM WAS NOT AS WIDESPREAD IN RUSSIA AS IMPLIED There were 2 famines with reported cannibalism which covered TWO YEARS OF FAMINE ONLY, 1921-2 & 1932-3, basically limited to the Ukraine & a couple of extreme outlying regions of Russia (like Siberia). It wasn't like people all over Russia were cannibals for entire decades just because they're sick (though they are a bit mad). It was seen as a desperate act for survival in famine-time ONLY. Also, MILLIONS DIED OF STARVATION, many refusing to become cannibals. And over 2000 people were PROSECUTED for committing acts of cannibalism. |
