The first one isn't a deceased child. If you'll look, the shape behind the child is actually a person draped in cloth, typically the mother. They did this to have children remain calm and still during the long process of photography. If this was a dead child, it'd be beside the point...  |

The first one could be dead, but, I know as babies, we were held by our mother for old B&Ws, but, not that old :) Poor little triplets :( |
