Christy SD, I like the smug dancing banana. Just wanted to say that. Now, to the murder word. The US company put that factory in India did it, not simply to save money (as proved by the investigation), but because they knew a disaster like this particular one was bound to happen. As lives in India aren't worth squat but American lives are much more "important" (read expensive in lawsuits), it was a simple decision where to plant this murderous "will happen eventually" plant. Softening words is the American way to make something horrendous seem.... easier to digest. And, hide behind.  |

The only people who ended up being charged with anything were Indian, talk about passing the buck. Also interesting that Greenpeace started around the time of the incident. They turned out pretty extreme, I wonder if seeing that level of betrayal had something to do with it.

Indeed. So too is it the case that Union Carbide knew full-well that its Bhopal plant was a ticking time bomb, but that it was more profitable to simply operate it until it exploded.
