Also, New York is arguably the safest city in the world. It has the second lowest homicide rate in the country according to the FBI crime statistics. So much ramped up security.

Re: The Worst 10 Cities for Walking

Actually, Vegas is pretty grimey and dangerous. The streets are littered with broken beer bottles and trash. The strip is about the only place its okay for you to be walking around at night.
Oh I know. I was talking about the number of visitors vs residents. Impossible to get a per capita estimate. I know many people live in the area, approx. 600k, but how many out of towners are walking around at any given time? If it's more than 100k, it will skew it.

I walk down the street at all hours of the night with my friends (many of which are typically in drag), and I have never felt unsafe.
That sounds amazingly fun

Ah, yes: the shadow of Rudy Giuliani stretches far and wide even to this day.

I dont see why Raleigh is on the list though. I live in Chapel Hill, NC (20 minutes from Raleigh). I go to Raleigh all the time. There are three gay bars within walking distance of each other there. Its a very walkable city. I walk down the street at all hours of the night with my friends (many of which are typically in drag), and I have never felt unsafe. Actually, its a very friendly city. Just last night three random guys with beards came walking up behind us, joking with us, and then we all toddled off in our own direction. Raleigh is very safe.

Sounds like a fun place!

I was only there once with an ex, who was in the Coast Guard. It was very nice, but, windy and crazy weather blowing items around the pool all over.

That happens everywhere though.

I know Staten Island was cool in the 80's. Everyone was very nice.

I never had problems in NYC either. Used to go to The Bowery and guys drinking out of paper bags would ask for $1.00 to clean the car windows.

I'd give them $5.00 to do the back window, too, because I like clean windows and it could have been me or someone I know.

Filthydelphia keeps getting worse.

So I guess that Frank, Dennis, Sweet Dee, Charlie, and Mac aren't really doing much to bring the property values up, huh?

What is left of my brain has to ask, Mike. Who is CFH? Just did a discography search for David and didn't see it.

You stumped me!

Re: The Worst 10 Cities for Walking

saw that coming... fuckin place is nuts for peds trying to make it around. when i lived there, this shit was going on all the time (if anybody is interested):

(5 pedestrians hit, two killed, by a city bus in portland)
Timing! Just watching the news and a runaway car ran into a field of people!

It has been happening all over! Very sad!

I stop for pedestrians, even if they cannot walk 3 seconds to a crosswalk or cross on the right color traffic signal.

Just yesterday, a woman with a baby in a stroller stopped to thank me for stopping! It happened with a couple of guys the other day in different situations.

I had two teenage girls stop to thank me for stopping. I told them they have the right of way.

They told me they know, but, I was the only one who ever stopped. It's both sad and disgusting!

We are lucky people even stop at stop signs! Fucking assholes!

What have they done to Casey Kasem there, Kanda444? Very sad for him.
