Woman Sues Dunkin Donuts Over Sugar in Coffee
Woman Sues Dunkin' Donuts Over Sugary Coffee Updated: Sunday, 05 Jun 2011, 1:16 PM CDT Published : Sunday, 05 Jun 2011, 1:16 PM CDT (NewsCore) - PHILADELPHIA -- A Philadelphia woman has sued a local Dunkin' Donuts for putting sugar in her coffee, sending her to the hospital, the Philadelphia Daily News reported. Danielle Jordan, 47, is seeking unspecified damages in the personal-injury suit filed against the Philadelphia Dunkin' Donuts restaurant and Northeast Donut Shops Management Corp., the Daily News reported. Jordan, who has diabetes, claims she ordered coffee with an artificial sweetener on June 15, 2009, but the server put sugar in her drink instead, the newspaper said, citing court papers. After drinking the coffee, Jordan alleges that she suffered symptoms including light-headedness, dizziness and numbness of the extremities, resulting in an emergency trip to the hospital. According to the Daily News, Jordan said she had to increase her diabetes medication and "sustained a loss of life's enjoyment" due to Dunkin' Donuts' "defective product." The newspaper could not reach Jordan and her attorney for comment. Leshia Evans, the legal liaison who handles lawsuits for Dunkin' Donuts in the Philadelphia area, told the Philadelphia Daily News that she could not comment on the case. But, she added, "we don't provide a customer with anything they don't request. If they request a medium coffee, they will get a medium coffee. If you fail to request a sugar substitute, we can't read your mind. We sell doughnuts, not crystal balls." Read more: Philly.com Read more: http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpps/new...#ixzz1ORmsF1gd |

Re: Woman Sues Dunkin Donuts Over Sugar in Coffee
unless they put a whole CUP of sugar into the drink, I highly doubt she would have all those "distressing" symptoms - unless she already had a very high sugar level BEFORE getting to the donut place and that small amount of sugar tipped her over the edge. And if that is the case then she is not a very 'controlled' diabetic |

Re: Woman Sues Dunkin Donuts Over Sugar in Coffee
good point. my late father-in-law was a diabetic, and he was only a thin guy. Its like saying only fat people have a cholestrol problem, and thats not true either. I love Maccas coffee too, and I never eat their food |

Re: Woman Sues Dunkin Donuts Over Sugar in Coffee
I don't think I'm bothered by her being diabetic and not being sure of what she's putting in her body, because you know.. you have diabetes.. or that she's suing for a "Loss of Lifes Enjoyment" because of one bad cup of coffee.. or even that she apparently frequents a place with "DONUTS" in its title to get her morning drink.. not too upset by any of that. I think what I'm most upset about is that it seems she got a cup of coffee premade from a place like this. Every time I go there they give me a cup of black coffee and a couple of creamers, and I get to make it myself. I feel really left out now. That's some bullshit. |
