A wife is divorcing her husband after he refused to recreate raunchy sex scenes from bestselling book Fifty Shades of Grey.

The city banker, 41, claims she tried to spice up their dull sex life with S&M, bondage and risque lingerie, but her partner was just not interested.

Papers filed at the High Court say his lack of adventure is evidence of unreasonable behaviour – one of five grounds for divorce under family law.

It is thought to be the first time the “mummy porn” book has been cited as a reason for a split.

The novel tells the story of literature student Anastasia Steele and her sadomasochistic affair with billionaire Christian Grey.

It became a literary sensation on *publication last year, selling 60 million copies worldwide, spawning two sequels so far and making author E.L. James at least £20million.

The popularity of this book makes me wonder how much money someone could make at writing those trashy romance novels with Fabio-looking guys on the cover. It's not like you have to be a great writer to make a book about heaving bosoms and heated loins.

The high-powered banker, who earns more than $600,000 a year, charged that her attempt to jump start their love life with author E.L. James’s raunchy novel backfired when her “boring” husband accused her of “unreasonable behavior.”


When the wife pressed her husband to try out some of the action from the book, “he went ballistic” and blamed her for their marital meltdown, McAlister said.

I watched a documentary on it a few months ago and apparently people buying sex toys increased staggeringly
Guess it also spiced up a few marriages.
As for the woman who wrote them, guess she will live comfortably now for the rest of her life.

British novelist and former TV executive, E.L. James, also known as Erika Leonard, has an estimated net worth of $15 million. She became internationally known, after e-publishing what became a bestselling online trilogy. “Fifty Shades of Grey”, the first book in the trilogy, has since been published by Vintage Books, and has also become a bestseller. The series was originally a set of fan fiction posts based on the characters in “Twilight”, but Ms. James (Leonard) ended up removing the posts, as other fan fiction authors complained about the amount of sex in her stories. The series has become both popular and controversial due to its explicit sex scenes and its depiction of the BDSM lifestyle. While public reception has been almost uniformly positive, the series has met with very mixed reviews from critics. Universal Pictures and Focus Features recently optioned the books for film adaptation. E.L. James currently lives in West London with her family. She is half-Chilean, half-Scottish. In 2012, she was listed as one of Time’s “100 Most Influential People in the World”.
