Re: US Launches Air Strikes on Syria Islamic State Militants
Honestly, when Obama was trying to stay out of the Syrian situation it was the republicans that were criticizing him for not doing more IE arming the rebels or air strikes. If guys like McCain had just shut up and let things play out, instead of advocating for the rebels, there would be no suspicions. Now, we find out that maybe these "rebels" don't share our values after all. How much do you want to bet that no western aid wound up in their hands? Do you think it's something Obama wants to admit knowing what we know now? This whole situation is the result of meddling. Went into Iraq, for bullshit reasons, and created a resistance that mutated into ISIS...... Now Iraq is basically 3 different nations, with ISIS fighting for control of all of it, along with 2 Muslim sects and the Kurds..... The genocide is Inevitable. Say what you want about saddam, I guarantee you that ISIS would get nowhere in Iraq with him in charge. We can call him brutal, but the reality is that a leader without that mentality doesn't last in a place as brutal as the Middle East..... We're seeing right now how well our forced democracy and training is holding up under pressure, it's a colossal trillion dollar failure. ISIS is far more of a threat than saddam ever was. |

Re: US Launches Air Strikes on Syria Islamic State Militants
Oh I agree, Though Western meddling in the middle east pre-dates both the current seats. We could go in to further debate of negotiations as a stem off big oil interest that every nation we're dealing with right now is named in. With that said, this coalition has had some negative reviews with many analyst (there always will be ) that makes sense. What we don't see is: what interest the other arab groups have in this. And what promises are being made behind closed doors. Is it more meddling perhaps I don't agree with Mcain nor Obama's stance on the whole Syrian Saga, since it unfolded years ago. All of those countries should hold very little interest to us. We have no treaties or agreements with Iraq, or Syria, Not like we did with Ukraine anyway. So now we may have repercussions and YEARS to come of dealing with middle east, and their problems. And now perhaps having to "call to arms" when one of the five Arab countries cries wolf. Since we have already stuck our dicks in though, I think that should be the extent of our assistance. Pulling out without going the extra mile of training and arming another country would be the best route. |

Re: US Launches Air Strikes on Syria Islamic State Militants
Just wait till Putin decides he wants to play leader advocate for a handful of his own Arab countries. Then we could go the battle with russia using arab soldiers fighting each other, and we sit on our mainlands placing bets like its a cock fight |

Re: US Launches Air Strikes on Syria Islamic State Militants
So right about Saddam; we had no right deposing him like that. He was a leader of a sovereign nation: not our business to go around freeing the shit out of countries that we really have no interest in, only the obvious. Oil. And he certainly kept the potential radicals in check. This is what happens when you dont look before you leap. |

Re: US Launches Air Strikes on Syria Islamic State Militants
I strongly disagree that Saddam could stop any Arab spring uprising. It happened in Egypt, Yemen, Libya, Syria, and have effected many more. But I'm sure Saddam would have murdered thousands of men women and children to fight it. Doesn't mean he would win. Forced democracy What's a failure is Obama's move away from what the Bush administration started. He worked endlessly reversing course to separate himself from Bush. Obama was told this would happen. Bush stated before he left office changing policy would create a nightmare. And he didn't listen, this is Obama's mess. If he didn't want ownership of it he shouldn't of ran for President. Meddling? What did we do to Afghanistan prior to 9-11? We supported Afghanistan against the Soviets. Most of the hijackers were Saudi nationals. What has America done to Saudi Arabia? America is at war with these people. There's no rationalization to make that makes it our doing. Sure you can say America shouldn't of invaded Iraq. But that wasn't a invasion to fight Muslims. And the insurgency Wasn't and Isn't a group of Saddam loyalist fighting in his honor. Obama's biggest problem with foreign policy is he thinks he can appease. He believes like you Americas meddling caused these issues. Just like many believe Israel caused the terror against them. Imo that shows one doesn't fully understand extremist. You don't listen to them. They say exactly what they want and desire. |
