Re: Pitt Bull, Rottweiler Ban in Louisiana

These dogs are being punished because of a history of irresponsible "owners" who abused the dogs and taught them to fight. I don't see how this is legal.

and their families.

Someone would die if they tried to come into my home and take any of my dogs without a bite history.

Fuck the stupid people making these destructive and pointless laws.

And breeding, which people seem to try and dismiss.

A lot of the pits in the south come from "fighting" bloodlines, even with creative names to identify their fighting lineage.

Re: Pitt Bull, Rottweiler Ban in Louisiana

The accuracy of dog bite statistics is quite shakey.

If the person doing the reporting labels the dog wrong, it's innacurate.

If the attack/bite isn't anything close to a pit bull, it may not get reported on, because it doesn't have enough buzz to warrant a story - which is innacurate to statistics.

It's funny that people on here notice that black on white crime is ignored in the press, but don't see that it can and does happen with other things, such as dog bites and attacks done by non-buzz worthy dog breeds.

Lots of mixes look like they could be pit bulls and aren't.

I've heard other Canadians saying that dog bites haven't gotten better, only different dogs doing the biting.
I guess it just depends on who's statistics you're looking at.

You have absolutely no sources or statistics to back up your claims. Let me guess you must be a pitbull owner? .. In spite of these statistics, you continue to insist pits are loving, nonthreatening animals.

Lots of mixes look like they could be pit bulls and aren't.

Completely understandable. You believe our governments are targeting pit bulls. Louisiana did the right thing. Not only are they banning pit bull (the breed most likely to cause harm or death) they stepped it up a notch and banned rottweilers,

Canada does not have a nationwide ban on pits, however the province of Ontario is pit bull free or very close to it by now.

A good fighting dog is not human aggressive, but like you said, it's in the breeding. Idiots don't weed out the man biters and breed the most unstable, aggressive dogs they can get their hands on.

I don't agree with dog fighting(hate it!) but the dogs that were bred out of those yards back in the day were stable. Good breeders(not fighters) now still breed stable dogs. They have their dogs do other high energy jobs and such. It's the idiots that don't . . . And there's a lot of them.

Mr. Black -
If you're going to go on a breed extermination, you'll have to add a lot more to the list. They'll all end up in the spotlight one by one. You can make any dog bite. Take one away and an asshole will find another to take its place.

A golden retriever is a large dog, easily capable of killing a grown man - bigger than a pit bull terrier. What happens when the GR is bred/raised aggressive and it catches on with the idiots?
Throw the breed away? Or do something about the idiots?

The legislation in Louisiana states that if you own a pit bull or a Rottweiler, you must get rid of it by a certain timeline or they will take it from you. The pitbull ban that was passed in Ontario back in 2005 was not in the same ballpark. The legislation in Ontario places restrictions on existing pit bulls, and toughens the penalties for the owners of any dog that poses a danger to the public. It was not an extermination.

Re: Pitt Bull, Rottweiler Ban in Louisiana

No dogs allowed = no breeding(good or bad). No breeding = extinction.

Banning is not the answer to problem dogs. It hurts the good ones too. There are many, MANY more good ones than bad ones. the bad dogs = around 1% of the total breed population.

Good dogs don't make the news like that bad ones do.

Again, you have no sources or data to backup your claims. You're just pulling numbers out of your ass. If you want to have a conversation with me and debate like adults then talk like one. The people of Louisiana will forget about pits just like the rest U.S. and Canada where the breed is banned.

I live in one of those states, if the red states are suppose to be the ban states, it's inaccurate. They are not banned in my state. In some cities, but people still have them-they just keep them indoors so no one is the wiser.
