Pit Bull Hailed as Hero For Saving Young Deaf Owner From Burning Home
Firefighters credited the dog with saving the life of the couple's deaf son, Nick Lamb, 13, by licking the boy's face until he woke up. No one else was home at the time. Neither the boy nor the dog was injured. INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A pit bull named Ace is being hailed as a hero for licking the face of a sleeping, deaf 13 year old Indianapolis boy to alert him that his house was on fire. Indianapolis Fire Department Capt. Rita Reith (ryt) says Nick Lamb was home alone and sleeping without his hearing aids when the fire began Wednesday. She says Ace licked Nick's face until he awoke to find the house filling with smoke. The boy quickly covered his nose and mouth with his T-shirt and fled outside. He was not injured in the fire. The boy told firefighters this was the first summer he was old enough to stay home alone and that he had returned from summer camp just three days earlier. Firefighters estimated damage to the home at $175,000. This photo provided by the Indianapolis Fire Department shows Ace, a pit bull, resting outside the home of Lindsay and James Bernard of Indianapolis after the home caught fire on Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Nice to see a positive news story regarding a Pit Bull. Unfortunately people would rather focus all attention to the bad cases.

Yes I love pits and they are my favourite hound by a hundred miles. Here's a fact the dog responsible for biting more children than any other by a long way. Labradors the big friendly family dog. |

Pit bull? ...... No no y'all got the story wrong, the pit bull was smoking a joint tossed it in the trash can which started the fire...then while getting ready to eat the boy he smelled the smoke and woke up ..that's sarcasm for those of you who don't get it. Love pits smart and loyal like any dog raised right |

Lies!! The Pit Bull was licking the boys face to see if the BBQ was done yet. Good boy, Ace! I would say smack the kid in the back of the head for turning his hearing aids off, but I don't think the outcome would have been any different. Fire isn't very loud, til shit starts blowing up. Parents will never let him be alone now |

It was, supposedly, the boy's first time home alone. I'm not sure I would do that with a deaf child. Thank goodness Ace was trained right. |

I love the bond that Dogs and Cats at times have toward protecting children, such a sentimental thing to me because I grew up with them in my bed everynight. :) Such Beauty, that dog's spirit.
