I agree its not a question of IF they could be beaten, but at what cost........ We're already in 2 wars, neither of which went as planned, and North Korea probably will use their nukes when faced with certain defeat.

Technically the North would have rolled over them 50 years ago if not for the UN, and that probably still holds true today.......... Its just a longer, more drawn out version of Nam.

Sure the south would sustain big blows. But really, the north is far more out gunned. The south buys it's weapons from America, we train their soldiers, have war games with them. The south has been preparing for fifty years, they are as ready as they will ever be. All wars are brutal and bloody, so no doubt the south with sustain large casualties. But in a situation like that, it's the ending that matters most. Just as in ww2, England got rocked by Germany, but look who won. Now tell me does it matter now that Germany did so much damage?

Cause if you put 30k angry south Koreans on the border chances that an incident will break out increase substantially.
If you put 30K U.S. soldiers then you know the border is secured and that NK army won't do anything stupid.

It's a precaution measure, not a demonstration of power.
Regardless of the previous U.S.-NK conflict, it's still a better solution that letting SK secure the border and watch them go into open war within weeks.

If Hitler would of had nuclear technology, you can bet the UK would not still exist.... The stakes are a whole lot higher, this is a whole different ballgame..... Its not a matter of winning a conventional war against a sane enemy, NK is not rational and they will use everything at their disposal..... This is the problem.

Take a step back for a moment and ask yourselves who really cares? Korea as a whole is one of the most racist nations on earth, their society refuses to accept non Koreans or half blood Koreans. The south is quick to accept aid where ever it can get it but refuses to take any real action that would see an end to the north/south split. "North Korea is our brother"??? Well your brother wants to arse fuck you and take control of your country so they can hand it over to China, how about that!
South Korea has the worlds most powerful military machine standing behind it saying 'just attack the motherfuckers, we will back you up'. If the south isn't willing to launch a pre emptive strike to sort this shit out once and for all then why should we continue to get stuck with the task of protecting them.
