Especially in today's climate, annoying people isn't going to make things any better. I'm not sure why this is making the news now, though. I think the ordinance that "allowed" the loudspeaker was approved in 2004, even though I question the legitimacy of an elected body regulating religious affairs. Approving one, unless it is treated equally with all others, seems beyond the scope of government (at the federal level anyway, I'm not familiar with how that works at a local level).

I don't live in England, but you are correct.
It is a Christian country and the Queen is the Supreme Governor of The Church of England.

A bit different than the USA.

As stated before, I have no problems with church bells. The free expression of their faith, even if it's one I don't follow, is something I value.

Neither are lost causes. They are full of beautiful, friendly and altruistic people trying to live good lives. Hamtramck is my hometown and one of the most diverse and agreeable places in America.

Agreed, it's a good place (plus they deliver long after the places in midtown close )
Just pointing out to the other observer that they are commenting on a city in which the article wasn't even about.
