Jessi Combs From Mythbusters Dead After World Record Attempt Gone Awry
39 year old Jessi Combs of Mythbusters fame was tragically killed in a car crash on Tuesday in Oregon's Alvord Desert when she lost control of the Jet-powered car she was commandeering. Combs attempting to break her own previously set land speed record of 483.227 mph. No videos of the actual event have yet surfaced and it is still unclear at this time what the exact mechanical issue was that caused the accident, although as of a few hours ago today, (8/29) Fox News had reported that "some sort of fire" was involved during the event. The details regarding the exact manner of her death also remain dubious as it is also still unclear whether Combs was killed instantly or if she survived long enough to receive emergency medical attention before she passed. If at any point anyone is able to find actual video of the crash, do please post in comments!! |

Re: Jessi Combs From Mythbusters Dead After World Record Attempt Gone Awry
I saw one video clip that supposedly showed it, but I doubt it was real. It showed a fire near a couple of Porta-Potties, and from the looks of the setup they had there out on the desert, she would have been a good distance from their base when things went bad. So not likely near any Porta-Potties. There wouldn't have been ANYTHING out on the speed course at all. The other thing was there was a funny car in the shot as well, and I don't think there was anyone else out there with the group of them. Wonder if the video will ever surface. Certainly they were filming the attempt, probably with movie-grade cameras, as she had nearly all her efforts documented with great film. Watch any of her previous attempts. Also, there may have been cameras in the cockpit as well. Time will tell. |
