Jailed Terrorists Continue Jihadi Activities from Inside Goulburn Supermax
http://www.news.com.au/national/cell...-1227065570427 CONVICTED terrorists are using a sophisticated code to continue jihadi activities from inside Goulburn Supermax, Australia’s most secure prison. Senior corrections officials have told The Sunday Telegraph they fear that several of Australia’s most dangerous inmates are capable of plotting acts of terror because of serious security gaps, even though they are in confinement. Despite being given the strictest level of inmate classification, the AA classification introduced in 2008 especially for terrorists, convicts including Mohammed Elomar, Mazen Touma and Faheem Lodhi are free to communicate with the outside world through letters, phone calls and visits. Previously unseen pictures of the terrorists’ jail conditions show they have televisions, natural light and spacious cells. A Sunday Telegraph investigation can reveal that inmates are able to send messages through other inmates called jail “sweepers’’, who come into contact with the terrorists through work activity, such as maintenance and food delivery, and are then free to roam the prison. Leaked reports also detail regular visits from family members. “They are kept in isolation but that means nothing in jail,’’ a high- ranking former official said. “Messages are passed on in many ways. They are in segregation wings but can still communicate with the outside world. It is not hard because they still get visitation rights, which are their first outlet. They can do it through mail, which they are allowed to send and receive. It is scrutinised and sent to ASIO, but there is still risk. They also receive phone calls.’’ These men are considered so dangerous they are escorted to court appearances and medical appointments by guards armed with rocket launchers and machine guns while being supported by helicopters and armoured vehicles. The jihadists are effectively operating as a gang inside prison.

Jails and prisons as it is, Is a breeding ground for future disgruntled Muslim radicals. I'm sure they are successfully recruiting from within too. |

Re: Jailed Terrorists Continue Jihadi Activities from Inside Goulburn Supermax
They are free to communicate with the outside world through letters, phone calls and regular visits; they have televisions, natural light and spacious cells; they are able to send messages through other inmates called jail “sweepers’’, who come into contact with the terrorists through work activity and are then free to roam the prison. ...And they were given the strictest "AA" security classification?!?! I wonder what "ordinary" inmates are allowed to do there, then (if it's true). For the record, George Khamo (CSNSW spokesman) said today a CSNSW report stated only that there were risks AA inmates would attempt to recruit others to terrorism or plot escapes, but did not specify that such things had happened. "[CSNSW] strongly rejects claims made by anonymous sources in an article today that arrangements for managing AA prisoners are insufficient," Mr Khamo said in a statement. A high-ranking former official told News Corp prisoners were kept in isolation and their mail was scrutinised, but there was still a risk of communicating using codes. Following the reports, Mr Khamo said AA inmates were not placed in the same cell and guards did not carry rocket launchers. He also denied allegations of messages being sent through "sweepers"; this is, inmates who come into contact with terrorists through work activity such as food delivery. |

I love how the headline states that it is happening, but if you read the article it's really just people saying that it "could" happen

During the day they're allowed to roam the surrounding countryside, take jobs as shopping mall security guards, and sell ice creams to children while running the local day care centers. |
