ISIS Beheads Russian and Threatens the Russian People from International Business Times

he Islamic State group has released a video showing a militant beheading an alleged Russian spy, NBC News reported Wednesday. The video shows the fighter brandishing a knife as an unidentified captive is seen kneeling in front of him.

The video comes as Russia continues to wage a bombing campaign in Syria. While much of the campaign has been aimed at bolstering Syrian dictator Bashar Assad by weakening rebels, including those supported by the West, Russia in recent weeks has also stepped up its targeting of the terrorist organization, also known as ISIS


The video, titled "You Shall be Disappointed and Humiliated O Russians,” shows a Russian-speaking captor threatening Russia before slitting the prisoner’s throat. The video is eight minutes long and has been circulated by pro-ISIS social media users, Agence France-Presse reported.

The detainee confesses to being recruited by Russian intelligence to gather information on the Syria- and Iraq-based organization and to hand off information about its members who joined from the Caucus region.

In the past, ISIS and its affiliates have released videos showing their fighters beheading journalists, aid workers and members of minority groups. Mohammed Emwazi, also known as “Jihadi John,” who frequently beheaded captors and issued threats on video, is believed to have been killed in a U.S. airstrike last month in the de-facto ISIS capital of Raqqa, Syria. Unlike the militant featured in Wednesday’s video, Emwazi did not show his face.


Since Russia began its airstrike campaign in September, ISIS has threatened to stage attacks against Russia. An ISIS affiliate in Egypt’s Sinai region claimed responsibility for the downing of a Russian airliner in late October, which resulted in the deaths of all 224 people on board. ISIS later released a video showing its fighters handing out bowls of candy in a stronghold in Iraq, celebrating the terrorist attack.

ISIS continues to maintain control over large swaths of Iraq and Syria. The militant group has seen some setbacks in recent years, including the loss of territory, due to an anti-ISIS bombing campaign.

CNN)ISIS released video Wednesday showing the beheading of a man it claims joined the terrorist group but was in fact a Russian spy, as well as a message chastising Russian President Vladimir Putin and threatening his country's citizens.


As the captive kneels before him in an orange jumpsuit, his killer says in Russian that the airstrikes ordered by Putin against the Islamist extremist group "has only made us more certain and more firm."


He then addresses the Russian people, saying, "You will not find peace in your homes. We will kill your sons ... for each son you killed here. And we will destroy your homes for each home you destroyed here."


The first U.S. citizen to be killed by ISIS, <a href="http://cnn.com/2014/08/20/us/james-f...quot;>James Foley</a> was taken hostage in Syria in November 2012 and beheaded in August 2014. The 40-year old from Rochester, New Hampshire was an experienced war journalist who contributed videos to major media outlets including Agence France-Presse and GlobalPost.

CNN could not immediately verify the authenticity of the video, much less the ISIS claim that the man beheaded was a Russian spy. If true, it joins a growing catalog of atrocities in which the terror group has broadcast the killing of one or more captives and paired it with menacing messages.
Russians are among the citizens of several nations who are known to have joined ISIS in Syria and Iraq. Raffaello Pantucci, a senior fellow at the Royal United Services Institute, noted last year that people from the Russian federal republic of Chechnya "in particular are held in very high veneration."


Wednesday's video isn't the first time ISIS has accused a Russian of being spy then killed them in front of a camera.

The charges were similar to those claimed in a theatrically produced video, circulated in January, showing a boy with long hair and wearing a black sweater and military fatigue pants shooting two men in the back of the head.


Earlier that month, Chechnya's leader told the Interfax news agency that Russia has an intelligence network within ISIS.


"This allows us to track the movement of those who are of interest to us," said Ramzan Kadyrov, the Chechen leader. "Moreover, it allows us to send those who, even as a joke, direct the barrel towards Russian on an eternal trip with a one-way ticket."

i know....i have to listen to bbc radio at work and the news comes on every hour and every hour they tell us about the prime minister and the opposition leaders debating and arguing over whether england is going to go and help rid the world of isis...but that's all they fucking do, debate and fuck around....

it blows my mind that there are actually leaders who don't want to get involved.....you know, is it going to take another bomb in another bus on a busy london street for these assholes to realise that ISIS needs to be destroyed at the roots...

thank fuck for vladimir putin.... what he's doing now and the wests dilly dallying is going to have massive repercussions when elections roll around... now people can see what a real leader is supposed to act like and will be looking for similar leaders in their own countries....people who will look after their interests in more areas than just 'the economy'
