Re: ISIS Iconoclasm
You are right: iconoclasm is not the brandest-new story among people. It happened everytime, everywhere mostly but not only for religious reasons. The Egyptians already did it to Icons of after-reign unwanted Pharaos. The Ancient Romans to the "barbarian" cultures in middle-europe. Yes, the thirty-years-war in hindsight seems to be one greate event of shattering. But think about this: the ancient and medieval iconoclasts themselves created things of equal marvellousness after their crimes and their creations THEMSELVES became grand historic evidence. But how should WE fill those gaps when such antiquities are lost forever? With iPhones and 900-meters-tall skyscrapers?! Hell, I don't think so! |

Re: ISIS Iconoclasm
I'm a historian. I cannot watch this, my lord. Beheadings have nothing on this. Fuck you ISIS, fuck you. Raze this pestilence of bearded backward cousin fuckers off the earth. I hope ISIS interprets foods containing vitamin c to be evil. Scurvy is an awful death that would be quite befitting for these fuckers. These are some of the oldest links to our Indo-European past. Gilgamesh will destroy you isis. |
