A New York City man has been filmed cheating death by riding outside of a speeding subway train.
But a YouTube clip of the daredevil act, entitled Idiot Rides Outside The Subway Car, has prompted transit officials to decry the reckless stunt.



The three-minute video begins as a passenger grabs a camera and charges toward the double doors to film a man hanging on from the other side.

The unidentified man manages to hang on to his baseball cap as he presses his face and torso onto the glass pane of the Jamaica, Queens-bound J train.



His face, at first fixed on the obstacles ahead, headphones appearing to blast music into his ears, turns to his audience as he takes advantage of the attention and shimmies his position from one window to the other as passengers gasp in horror.
As the train approaches a station, he turns to those inside and puts his finger over his lips in hopes he won't be given up to transit officials.
But as the doors open on the other side, the train seems to stall, prompting him to jump onto the tracks below and run the opposite side out of view.
Transit officials come aboard as the man disappears before the video ends.

The video appears to have been filmed on September 8, as one passenger is heard mentioning the evening's city-wide event Fashion's Night Out.
It was not known at press time if the subway surfer was caught, however, the video has the attention of the Metropolitan Transit Authority.
Spokesman Charles Seaton said on Tuesday the incident was under investigation.
'The act shown in this video is both stupid and dangerous. We have referred it to the Transit Bureau of the NYPD for investigation,' he said.
