This Cracks Me Up

Not b/c it's England - but b/c politicians realize these laws fuck over businesses (in the US, too) and when it comes right down to it, they will still fuck over the worker for the sake of money.

http://seattletimes.com/html/busines...egulation.html

LONDON —
Britain's government says it will scrap hundreds of regulations affecting businesses, in the hope of boosting the country's lackluster economy.

Business Secretary Vince Cable announced Monday that firms would be made exempt from up to 3,000 health and safety laws and other regulations.

"Businesses need to focus all their energies on creating jobs and growth," Cable said.

Safety laws are being loosened for most businesses, aside from hazardous sectors such as construction or for companies with a record of poor performance.

However, experts on health and safety said they were skeptical the changes could provide any spur to economic growth.

Ministers also said the plans would not make it easier for firms to fire employees.

Re: This Cracks Me Up

The Tory UK government likes to "look busy" while kissing the butt of anyone who'll pay them £250,000 for dinner with Dave C. During these delightful affairs, matters of concern and trivialities raised by the guest become policies, such as the NHS, and DWP changes, Employment Law, Banking, and of course, Education.

So it's all about saving their mates some cash, or its about making their mates some cash.

Simple really.

Very well said, Thank you.

Re: This Cracks Me Up

Well, one thing is certain...loosening safety restrictions will certainly help the businesses end of the health care/medical industry! More otj injuries means higher patient load for hospital emergency rooms as well as follow up Dr visits.

Not necessary. How about providing safety measures to avoid accident related downtime and/or expansive litigation.

Re: This Cracks Me Up

Health and saftey laws here in the UK are currently way to OTT People joke about it, it's that bad so some moderate reviews can't cause any harm (no pun intended!).

I was being sarcastically ironic. It will help the healthcare industry with more patients but in a very negative way. I vote safety first!
