Its another 'unclear' fact...It probably was 7hrs, as you say the tyre fire is nonsense...They have fire monitoring equipment in the wheel bays.

There's a lot to be said for some of the countries of which the plane may have flown over not revealing that it did....It would involve them giving away military secrets...ie, just how good their radar and surveillance equipment is, for example, that they can see into what may be considered enemies airspace.
