BRAZILIAN SERIAL KILLER - 39 VICTIMS
http://www.news.com.au/national/brea...-1227093692051 BRAZILIAN police say they’ve captured a man who has confessed to 39 murders. The alleged serial killer, 26-year-old security guard Thiago Henrique Gomes da Rocha, reportedly went on a four-year killing spree murdering 39 people including 16 young women. But the man’s lawyer says his client was coerced into confessing crimes he didn’t commit due to aggressive questioning. UNSOLVED: How did these serial killers get away with murder? CAUGHT: Alleged serial killer Alexander Hernandez arrested after LA siege Investigator Norton Ferreira said that police linked a gun found in the home of Rocha to the killings of at least six women this year. He was arrested on Tuesday night after a 70-day investigation and on Wednesday admitted to slaying 39 people since 2011, including 16 women, homosexuals and homeless people,” a police spokesman from central Goias state told AFP. Ferreira said Rocha was arrested in the central city of Goiania, and that he had earlier slit his wrists after smashing the light bulb in his cell. Firefighters prevented the suspect from inflicting serious self-harm and police then paraded him before the media. Police say he has told them he did not know his victims and acted out of an inner “fury he felt against everything” which only subsided when committing murder. After the slayings, he would feel remorse which only fuelled his anger and led him to kill again. A police search of his grandmother’s home where he lived turned up a .38 caliber revolver, a motorcycle and two stolen motorcycle number plates. According to police, he fired on victims while cruising the streets. “The investigation continues, as does the ballistics analysis,” a police spokesman said. Police are sifting through evidence including closed circuit television footage which reportedly showed a motorcyclist shooting dead 14-year-old Ana Lidia de Souza as she walked to a bus stop. Further footage shows a man wearing a motorcyclist’s helmet blasting a sleeping homeless man in the head before fleeing the scene on his motorcycle. Rio daily O Dia said relatives of Thiago Rocha had expressed shock at his arrest as “he is considered to be a very calm person.” |

Re: BRAZILIAN SERIAL KILLER - 39 VICTIMS
All animals have an innate ability to kill their own species for competitive reasons, such as to have sex when there are a lack of available partners (a male will kill another male thus allowing him a greater chance of mating with a female partner). Equally a female could kill another female for the same reasons. However today in our human society of abundant resources and huge populations, these reasons are often redundant. Fortunately our brains have recently, in terms of evolution, aquired the ability to supress our instinctive urges by way of higher reasoning. Such as when you feel hungry, you do not steal food, when you want sex you do not jump on the nearest thing available, because you have learned that it is wrong. This is what sets us apart from other animals. The development of the frontal lobes in the brain. In almost all cases of extreme anti-social behaviour such as this, that have been investigated using MRI scan technology and electroencephalography, there is a reduced level of activity in the right prefrontal cortex where urges are supressed. This murderer felt remorse after killing which is common in people who have damage or retarded development in this area. People who commit such murders and feel zero remorse almost always have damage to the left prefrontal cortex aswell, where emotions are experienced. People with OCD also have the same type of reduced brain activity in the right hand area, yet not in the left, which also causes them to behave in a way that they cannot stop, yet allows them to see the ridiculousness of their plight, and they also feel distressed by their own behaviour, which then causes it to get worse. The murderer in this case is a psychopath, but that is more a description of his psychological composure. The software is running badly, but there is no point trying to debug or reinstall it (as CBT, cognitive behaviour therapy does), because in this case the hardware is fucked. |
