They could have the best teachers in the world, but if they go home to a disfunctional shit hole every day it won't make much difference.

I think friends are a huge influence and one thug can ruin the bunch.

These kids would come to school high and drunk and then try to fight the teachers and police escorting them off school property. They weren't drunk from the night before either. How do you get ripped at 7 AM?! Why, too?!

At first I felt bad thinking it had to be rough growing up living in shit, but they always had nicer clothes, shoes and cars than me.

They would shit and piss in the hallways. Threw a teacher down a stairwell, he's now paralyzed for life. Smoking in the middle of class. Giving every staff member and cop the finger at every possible chance.


They had some serious hate for people like me. I've never called a black person a derogatory name, but in the span of one day I'd be called a 'cracker' or 'white bitch' more times than I could count.


The only time I got away from any of it was during AP classes and NHS activities.

You do speak the Truth, but...If friend A has great parenting, and friend B, C, D, and E do not, then the parents of friend A will never influence A enough to truly make a difference. Of course, your mileage may vary. Friend A has to also have that inner drive and initiative to want something better from life.

Baltimore police say gangs 'teaming up' to take out officers.

Baltimore Police say they have received a "credible threat" that rival gangs have teamed up to "take out" law enforcement officers.

"Law enforcement agencies should take appropriate precautions to ensure the safety of their officers," police said.

Capt. Eric Kowalczyk, the agency's chief spokesman, said he could not immediately elaborate on how the information was received or why police found it credible. He would not say whether it was believed connected to the ongoing demonstrations regarding the death of Freddie Gray.

In December, the Baltimore FBI office issued a memo that the Black Guerrilla Family gang was targeting "white cops" in Maryland, an agency spokeswoman confirmed.

The memo, circulating among officers, said a contact who had given reliable information in the past said members of the gang — connected to the high-profile corruption scandal at the Baltimore City Detention Center — were planning to target white officers to "send a message."
