Baby Towed Behind Moped During Storm: Police
By Cortney Peltz hln.com May 13, 2015 A South Carolina couple was charged with child neglect after police say they strapped their 7 month old daughter into a bicycle trailer and towed her behind a moped during a tropical storm. On May 10, 2015, the couple was pulled over by a highway patrol trooper after police received a complaint about the infant being towed behind the three wheel moped. At the time, the weather conditions were rainy and the county was under a weather advisory because of Tropical Storm Ana, authorities said. The officer said Mark Cherry, 21, told him they were coming from Taco Bell and that they were just going down the road, a Horry County incident report states. When asked why they were towing the child in the carriage, the infant’s mother, 18 year old, Bianca Allen, told the officer, “She wasn’t aware that they couldn’t transport her in it and that she had her buckled up in it,” according to the incident report. The trailer was only attached to the moped by a one inch wide strap, police said. Upon detailed examination of the strap, it was found to have torn three quarters of the way through, according to the incident report. Police also said there were no reflectors on the back of the trailer and one of the two tires was flat. Cherry and Allen were taken into custody for unlawful neglect of a child or helpless person and released after posting $5,000 bond. The public defender’s office could not comment on whether they were representing the couple. The infant was placed in the custody of her maternal grandmother, and the incubator can only have supervised visits. Photos of moped, Bianca Allen, 18, and Mark Cherry, 21. |

Re: Baby Towed Behind Moped During Storm: Police
Aren't those made for bicycles? Either way, I can see how idiots could make the mistake. I mean, it IS a baby tow trailer. |
