A seven-year-old girl has miraculously survived after an irritable decorator accidentally shot her in the head.
The man and several of his colleagues were hired by Mai Dina's mother to carry out some work in the family home in China's Xinjiang Province.
But one of the men became annoyed with the children who were playing nearby and said he couldn't concentrate.
Jokingly, he pointed the nail gun in their direction and said: 'Go out now.'
The children immediately got up to leave but the young girl knocked the piece of equipment with her head and when she stood up, accidentally caused him to pull the trigger.
The girl's mother Ha Mina said: 'She screamed and we could see a small opening on her head, bleeding. Her father immediately sent her to hospital.'
The X-rays clearly show the 5cm nail wedged into the child's head and surgeons carefully worked to remove it and Mai Dina is now recovering.
Doctor Zhao Fuxi said: 'Luckily the nail missed the artery in the skull. If the vein was broken she may have died from mass hemorrhage.'
