Re: 63 Cops Suspended, 137 Shots Fired on Unarmed Couple
It looks like it in the animation of what happened. I guess I'm not surprised, but this type of over-reaction by so many officers is just awful. It sounds like there was some miscommunication also - quite a bit of it. |

Re: 63 Cops Suspended, 137 Shots Fired on Unarmed Couple
I have fired rifles, but not often, during the time I was a Scout Leader, every summer, and I still get to do it once in a while. I was a sharpshooter in the Army, and an Expert in the Air Force, but that was in 1978 and 79. Is a pistol difficult? Well I have never had to shoot a pistol at a person or moving target and I definitely was not under duress. But this is what I did the first time I did shoot a pistol. It was a 21 Glock, which fires 45 caliber rounds. My biggest problem was it's weight and the thickness of it's grip, like trying to hold a bar of soap with two hands. The kick wasn't too bad, much as I expected it to be really. I did get tired and shaky after a while, you can see that, this is about 40 rounds I think, most went through the middle before I got tired. I also appear to have some breath holding issues. *sigh* It really is something you should do a couple times a month. 13 cops firing off 137 rounds means that on average they each fired 10 or some maybe 11 shots and that's not difficult, all I can say is it must have been the adrenaline that fucked them up so hard that they were too shaky to shoot straight. |

That's very possible. There is a lot going on during a situation that involves shooting. They can't prepare for everything but maybe they could train a little harder? I don't know. |

I think they should spend more time on the range too. There are also different kinds of trainings so that they learn when and when not to shoot. But it's a fact, cops are human, and humans make mistakes. This one though? It sounds like willful disobedience to me. |
