Moloko I would have to say me. Both of my children started shooting rifles at age 3, handguns around 5. I have some in a safe that's locked but I also have some conveniently "hid" around the house in random locations. I have one beside my bed never locked and one on me. My kids knew the danger of firearms and never touched without asking and when they did ask we went outside and shot. Not as much now but I used to go through about 500-900 rounds a week between me and the kiddos. Its It's fun, it's a skill set everyone should know, it's for protection, and dagum it, it is American   .I think if you trust your children, raise them correctly they will not so things like this. I still trust no child around a weapon. We have seen first hand what happens when a trusted, "trained" child gets their little hands on a loaded weapon. I think it's great you teach them about gun safety and all that. But what's the harm in locking them up after a lesson?  Husband and I don't even step foot upstairs when arriving from work. We enter through the basement and leave all gear in their designated safe. |
