Re: 2-year-old Accidentally Kills His Mom in Wal-Mart

One more reason to always keep your gun on your waist/belt. Stowing it in a purse is never secure.
AMEN! Toddler was too young for traditional gun-safety talking-to. But toddler saw mommy put that thing into her purse...

... and he/she could work zippers. Mommy left her purse unattended with toddy in the cart, and died for it. At least that's how I imagine this incident happening.

Concealed-carry with methods that involve weapons that are not on-your-body is a bad idea. Unfortunately for her, she learned this lesson the hard way.

I guess he was pissed left alone in the car, as well he should have been.
He was in the cart, not car.

This is tragic. I agree with whoever said it's best to keep the gun on your person. I don't leave my purse in the cart because I don't want anyone to grab my wallet. I sure wouldn't just sit down my purse if there was a gun in it. Certainly not near a child.

Re: 2-year-old Accidentally Kills His Mom in Wal-Mart

darwinism at its best

unlocked , loaded gun

the 2 year old would never be able to kill her if the gun would be "locked" (dont know the englisch term for that - sidefact: in german its "geladen und entsichert" )
I'm not a gun expert, but I think you are right to say the gun is locked. You could also say 'the safety is on'.

What a horrific accident for that child to have gone through and now cope with throughout life

Natural selection at work.

Re: 2-year-old Accidentally Kills His Mom in Wal-Mart

If the gun is not on your person, you don't have control of the weapon. "Carry purses" fail that test, unfortunately for this woman.
