A 49-year-old dad of two was left with "catastrophic injuries" after being attacked by Michael English, 30, outside a pizza shop. English attacked after asking the victim for a light outside the Middlesbrough, England restaurant. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and put into an induced coma. He underwent surgery to remove a blood clot on the brain and a titanium plate was inserted. English, who had two previous convictions for assault, received a 22-month sentence. No need to throw that second punch. The older guy was rocked. Probably would have fallen over with a tap on the forehead after that first punch. Didn't need to end with life changing injuries. Two wasted lives.
