Democrat Mayor of Wasco, California Assaulted After Alegedly Trying to Meet Up With a Minor

The Kern County Democratic Party is calling on Wasco Mayor Alex Garcia to resign following recent allegations. In a release it said, “We have been made aware of the recent allegations made against Wasco Mayor Alex Garcia. The Kern County Democratic Party unequivocally condemns any acts of violence, sexual assault and harassment in any form, especially when involving an individual who cannot give consent, such as a minor.” They are calling on Garcia to immediately resign from his position on the Wasco City Council. It said, “So that the city can focus on the work of serving its citizens without distraction.”

The release said the Kern County Democratic Party takes the allegations very seriously and hopes that the appropriate agencies investigate this matter to the fullest extent of the law. The release said, “The Kern Democratic Party and its affiliates are committed to a safe, respectful and harassment free environment for all. We expect all our leaders and members to uphold these values and support victims with the necessary resources.”

Wasco mayor Alex Garcia was allegedly caught trying to meet a minor by a group of vigilantes who recorded themselves confronting and assaulting the official.

On July, 24, a Facebook group called “Bakersfield Crime Watch” posted video footage of the incident showing Garcia, the first openly gay elected official in Wasco, a Bakersfield suburb, arriving at a prearranged location, purportedly to meet a 15-year-old boy he had been communicating with on Sniffies, a gay dating app.

Davonn Bradley, the man who posted the video, said Garcia showed up with condoms, marijuana, sex toys, and amyl nitrate, known as “poppers.”

Garcia’s lawyer has issued a statement claiming Alex was “tricked” and “lured” into arriving at the location in an attack motivated by homophobia.

Bradley also provided screenshots to The Wasco Tribute of alleged text messages from Garcia to the purported 15-year-old, in which a person identifying himself as Garcia said he was “looking for younger,” and reacting with apparent excitement when the “teen” described himself as “super young.”

Bradley also showed the reporter a $25 CashApp payment from Garcia, which he said was a payment in exchange for the boy’s silence.
