Waiter Slips Sending a Wave of Hot Pot into Child's Face
A Chinese boy inside a hot pot restaurant is playing with a cell-phone at a table when a waiter arrives and suddenly slips with a full pot in his hands, sending a wave of scalding broth right into the child's face. The boy's mother immediately grabs her child, while the father brushes the pot off the table and rushes over. It's not exactly clear how seriously injured the boy was in this accident. |

I live in China and have had hot pot plenty of times. It seems odd that the waiter is carrying a pot that is actually hot because every time I have gone it is heated at the table in the center. So...if it was pre-heated before (never seen that) then I would think it is less than boiling (though hard to say how hot it was) Granted just cause I haven't seen it doesn't mean it is not common I suppose... |

I was kinda wondering that myself but it seems steam is rising from that chair after he spilled it all over that boy. Very work unsafety to walk around with hot pots me thinks.

If the were using chicken stock instead of plain water, then he might have been carrying out the stock after it was just made in the kitchen.

Hot pot is never just water and the main liquid used (that you see him carrying) is some sort of soup/flavor. But that is prepared cold then warmed at the table. It is possible (though unlikely) they were using something like you suggest...IE they cooked a meal and use the leftovers for the hotpot.
