I'm just curious why everyone who was talking spoke what sounds more like Chinese or Korean. I didn't hear a single Japanese word. You sure this is the video of the incident and not a similar incident from a different country? I say that because the Japanese articles I'm reading about this don't match up to the video: NAGOYA -- A sewer worker died after being struck by a car as he was emerging from a manhole in the city of Kariya in central Japan's Aichi Prefecture on Jan. 24. Killed in the incident, which occurred at about 10:20 a.m., was Terumasa Hayashi, a 47-year-old resident of the Aichi Prefecture town of Taketoyo. According to Kariya Police Station, the manhole was in an intersection with traffic lights, and Hayashi was coming up from the hole after finishing cleaning sewer pipes when he was hit by a car driven by 47-year-old Yayoi Shigeno, who was making a right turn. He reportedly fell 3.2 meters to the bottom of the hole after being hit. He was taken to a hospital, but died of brain injuries in the predawn hours of Aug. 25. At the time, the manhole was open, but there was no fence around it to let drivers know work was in progress. There was one security guard at the scene at the time, but the guard was said to be directing another vehicle at the time. Police are investigating whether there were any problems with safety administration. |
