As someone who has a close family member who is a drug addict, unless you've walked a mile in their shoes, you have no idea. No one tries drugs intending to be a junkie. My family member was on painkillers due to a true health condition, could not afford insurance, and without his medication he was in too much pain to work. Heroin was cheaper, and more effective. He had no clue what he was getting himself into.

I was a drug addict but I always paid my debt, if I ever had it. Addiction is like a disease, you can't control it. If you could control it you wouldn't be an addict in the first place. But there are certain aspects of it that you can control and things that you can choose to do. Choosing not to pay when dealing with violent people is just stupid and shows great disrespect to the other guy. The dealer can't let that go or otherwise everybody would be doing the same thing to him. It's just business. Not that I wish anybody's death or take any joy out of this.
