If he'd gotten away with it, he would probably be laughing his ass off and bragging about the whole thing to his buddies which would bolster his ego and complacency; he'd more than likely do it again. If he'd been wounded and came to his senses about his conduct, he might think twice about doing it again; an ambivalent scenario for me.
