In the municipal area of Savar, a young woman allegedly mixed sleeping pills with rice and then hacked her father, Abdur Sattar (56), to death at their home - after which she herself called the police. The incident occurred around 4 a.m. on Thursday at the house of Abdul Kader in the Majidpur Kathalbagan area of Ward No. 7 of the municipality. Police arrived in the morning and took the daughter into custody.

Subsequently, a video went viral showing the daughter, Jannat Jahan Shifa, standing in front of her father’s bloodied body, talking about being raped. She claimed she was repeatedly raped and threatened with the videos being made viral. In the video, she is seen repeatedly striking her father’s body with a blood-stained knife. She also alleged that her father committed misdeeds with many others besides her.

The viral video has sparked various criticisms among netizens. Many are questioning how a father could commit such acts, while some are calling the daughter mentally unstable.

Duty Officer Abdur Rashid of Savar Model Thana stated that around 4 a.m. on Thursday, a girl called 999 and reported that she had killed her father. The police then went to the scene, recovered Abdur Sattar’s body, and detained the daughter.

According to the daughter’s statement, the police said that on the previous night, Jannat mixed sleeping pills in her father’s rice. After Abdur Sattar fell asleep, around 4 a.m., Jannat hacked him to death with a sharp weapon.

It is also known that in 2022, Jannat had filed a rape case against her father at Singra Thana, for which he served time in jail. Later, they moved to Savar, rented a house, and began living together again.
