Woman Dying From Gunshot Wounds

Young woman was shot in the back by an unnamed assailant. Police were called but she was allegedly dead or almost dead by the time they arrived. The video takes place at the end of this process, as she is clearly alive and writhing in pain for a few moments before she succumbs and dies on camera.

It was not made clear in the report who was actually filming this video. I initially assumed it was a bystander, but I am fairly sure I hear a police radio several times during the vid, so it seems to me at least one cop was on the scene. But I expect that the cop would have tried to help her, so perhaps not.

And before five hundred people start fuming and screaming and going insane (as is ALWAYS the case in these types of vids) about why no one was helping her, let me remind you that this was a violent crime in an extremely high-crime barrio in Brazil. To be honest, it was a fucking miracle that someone actually called the police at all. Most of the time the calls never come in and if they do, they are anonymous and no one sticks around the scene to be asked questions.

Trust me, I read dozens of police and news reports from this area every day. If you stick your nose in where it doesn't belong in this neighborhood, you're liable to lose it. It is rare enough that people even stuck around to watch her die rather than just running and hiding in their homes. Drugs were most certainly involved on both sides of this shooting and it is highly likely that the shooter and/or several of his henchmen were still lurking in or around the immediate areas with eyes on the civilians.

So before any of you hop upon your holier-than-thou pulpit about the horrors of people not rushing to her aid, take a moment to consider some cultural context. It sucks badly that this girl had to die suffering and more or less alone surrounding by an unfeeling crowd of gawkers, but that's just how shit rolls in a barrio controlled by drug dealers and violent thugs.

And before anyone asks, they shot her in the upper back. The bullet(s) penetrated her back and lung. She didn't get shot in her genitals (as I have heard suggested by some commentors at the source). The stains on her shorts are loose dirt sticking to damp urine-soaked denim from where she evacuated her bladder after being shot. Not from bullets in her kaslapus.
