Video of Stuntman Jim Bailey Hanging by a Thread
Australian stuntman Jim Bailey, nicknamed 'The Human Torpedo', met a fatal end during a daring aerial stunt on April 1, 1981. The accident occurred in Puunene, Hawaii, where Bailey was engaged in a high-risk maneuver for a television film production. Bailey, renowned for his extraordinary stunts, particularly in the drag racing circuit where he was known for his unique belly-slide behind racing vehicles, attempted an audacious feat involving a single-engine airplane. The stunt involved Bailey being attached to the underside of the aircraft, an act that showcased his penchant for pushing the boundaries of stunt performance. Tragically, during takeoff, Bailey’s safety harness snapped, leaving him precariously dangling under the aircraft at an altitude of about 500 feet. This harrowing situation ended with Bailey falling to his death, an incident that was captured by the filming crew on site. |
