USA - Indiana Sprint Car Driver Killed In Crash During Race
"A sprint car driver has died from his injuries after his car crashed into a wall and flipped multiple times during a qualifying race in southeastern Indiana. Justin Owen, 26, from Harrison, Ohio, was a longtime race car driver who was the reigning track champion at Lawrenceburg Speedway with two feature wins and the title in 2022. On Saturday night, his car struck the outside wall and flipped several times along the third turn in a qualifying race for the AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship at Lawrenceburg Speedway, the U.S. Auto Club (USAC) announced. The remainder of the event was canceled following the crash."

I’m a bit surprised he died. Race cars are pretty well equipped with full roll cages that protects the drivers from getting tossed out or hit by anything. I wonder what killed him? Other than the violent, high speed crash on the track..  curious about his injuries..  |

Looks like the almost head-on into the wall probably did it. Like Dale Earnhardt Sr. The tumble after that is pretty common to see in the sprint cars, generally a little woozy or a few broken bones, but never seems to be fatal. |

He sure was hauling ass when he did kiss the wall. Lot of Gs in a spin like that. He definitely would've felt that the next day had he lived.

My Nephew has been racing since he was 6 and now he is 26 so that's 20 years.
