Jumping out of a moving car with handcuffs on is a fantastic idea.

"Disturbing body camera footage released Friday shows a Georgia woman’s final moments before she fatally fell from a moving cop car while in handcuffs.

The video, released by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, comes two days after the agency found that police did not close the car door that B.G., 28, fell from while in handcuffs.

B.G., who had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, was taken into custody on July 15 while suffering a health crisis and died six days later after being in a coma.

Her family called police while she was suffering from an episode, but officers accused her of resisting arrest and took her into custody.

The footage released by the GBI shows B.G. yelling at the officers arresting her, insisting she is not drunk and saying “I ain’t broke no law” and “get off me.”

“You see if I don’t hang myself when I get in there,” she said while cops, one of whom had activated his stun gun, took her into custody."

In the early stages of the investigation, it was determined that while deputies were taking her to the sheriff’s office, she fell out of a patrol car and suffered significant injuries.

She was pronounced dead from her injuries around 1 p.m. July 21 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. Her body was taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab for an autopsy.

The GBI’s regional investigation office in Milledgeville was asked to investigate the incident.
New details were released Wednesday after numerous interviews, reviews of body camera footage and mechanical tests on the patrol car. In addition, GBI released the bodycam footage involving this case Friday.

Investigators concluded that the rear passenger side door of the patrol car, near where she was sitting, was never closed.

To put her in the patrol car, one of the deputies walked around and opened the rear passenger side door. The deputy then returned to the rear driver’s side door, and both deputies put her in the backseat of the patrol car.

Investigators say she was handcuffed in the front of her body and was not wearing a seatbelt.

The deputies closed the rear driver’s side door. The investigation shows that the deputy thought he closed the rear passenger side door.

So, regardless of generalizations based on the area of the US, and regardless of whether the police wear gloves(how is that even relevant to the point you’re trying to make?), when someone is deemed a threat to the health of the public, they are removed from the public. However, this is one of those cases when the officers are completely responsible, assuming they didn’t make sure the door was shut to their unit. Wtf

I believe it is more likely that the door was closed but not locked. She managed to open it and basically jump out the moving vehicle that was going straight. At the end she end up accomplishing what she said she was going to do, and that was killing herself. I bet you all that, if she would have been sitting still inside that vehicle she would have not "fallen off"

look, the person they were dealing with was a wild animal, you can't cure schizophrenia. i hope the police department isn't sued because small town PDs can't handle multi million dollar settlements that can destroy a small town's finances forever.
. In the old days, if your kid was crazy and she "made away herself" or died in the local dungeon or looney bin, life went on.

But now, heroic lawyers can spin shit, take a cut of the settlement, and live like fat cats. The payout should be proportional to the budget of the city - if all they can spare is $11,000, then that's all the family gets. She was a nutter anyway so they actually did them a favor. like a rabid dog being destroyed.
These two admittedly simple minded hillbilly cops could have handled the situation better, but they were trying to serve and protect. The dead girl is now the best thing that happened to the family who is now a) rid of her b) gets to have their 15 minutes of TV fame, c) and can now spend all the insurance money. I hope the insurance settlement makes the family insane with envy and they all turn into assholes fighting over it and end up broke again.
