Re: Ukraine Girl Hit by a Train
Actually, I don't think this was in Kharkov. I think it actually happened in Trainkov.

Re: Ukraine Girl Hit by a Train
~ I think she knew the train was scheduled to pass at that time. She also tactfully wanted to die listening to her favorite song, before it ended. ~ She lunged forward, so it looks like she meant to get hit by the train. Otherwise she was gonna miss the train. Runaway Train - Soul Asylum |

Re: Ukraine Girl Hit by a Train
"Do you think you can tell how fast an approaching train is traveling just by looking at it? Most people think they can. And most people are wrong. Since the train often is moving against a static background, your eyes rely on the change in size, position, and illumination of the locomotive over time. A rapid change in size indicates that the train is moving fast, a small change in size indicates a slow speed. Research shows that we often overestimate the distance of an object that is close to us and underestimate it for objects that are away. If an object is close to you, the change in size tells you that it is moving fast toward you. If it is far away, you are likely to underestimate the change in size or not see any change at all. Because of this optical illusion, a train appears to be traveling much slower than it is. Parallel lines of the rails converging toward the horizon contribute to this illusion and may fool you into thinking the train is farther away than it is." |

Re: Ukraine Girl Hit by a Train
I think we live in a time where everyone is looking at their phones at every road crossing. Its time we installed "stumble blocks" few steps before the crossing to face plant those who stare at their phones. Better than walking into traffic. |
